Introduction GTB Syrup is used to treat cough. It thins, decreases the stickiness and loosens mucus in the nose and windpipe, making it easier to cough out. It also relaxes muscles of the air passages, thus making it easier to breathe. GTB Syrup better to take it in a dose and duration advised by the doctor. In case you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. But, never take a double dose to make up for the missed one. Before taking it, inform doctor if you have suffered or are currently suffering from any stomach, lung, liver or kidney disease. It can cause side effects like rash, diarrhea, nausea, irritation in ear and headache. But, you should consult a doctor if your symptoms worsen or are accompanied by a high fever, or persistent headache. You may also experience dizziness after taking it, so do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus. You should avoid smoking and alcohol uptake while your under treatment. How GTB Syrup works GTB Syrup is a combination of three medicines: Terbutaline, Bromhexine and Guaifenesin which relieve cough with mucus. Terbutaline is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens airways. Bromhexine is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Guaifenesin is an expectorant which decreases the stickiness of mucus (phlegm) and helps in its removal from the airways.
